912th Squadron

The 912th Air Refueling Squadron, Heavy, was activated on 3 August 1961, and organized on 1 December 1961. Originally a part of the 4137th Strategic Wing, the 912th provides long-distance, in-flight refueling for aircraft worldwide as part of the Strategic Air Command. Flying the KC-135 Stratotanker, the 912th has participated in refueling missions in Southeast Asia (U-Tapao RTAFB), Thailand), in Europe (Torrejon AB, Spain), and in Alaska (Eielson AFB, Alaska). The 912th, the "Black Knights," received an Air Force Outstanding Unit Citation, 1 December 1961 to 31 March 1962 and again, 1 July 1976 to 30 June 1978. Its present home is Robins AFB, Georgia.
